I take a sketchbook with me just about everywhere. I don't often start with something specific in mind—usually just a few scribbles until I see something take shape.
I enjoy playing and and composing. Guitar and the PC are my main insruments for now, but I beat my drums sensesless whenever they give me reason to. Here are a few of my songs.
Physics. Mmmmhmm, fun! No really. I had no idea that I could be so entertained with a calculator, a few free hours and a dry erase board. Having solved hundreds of problems over the last several weeks, I'd write a few small physics simulations in JavaScript for the HTML5 canvas. I started with a function to plot the course of a projectile fired at a given angle and velocity using:

If you hadn't noticed already from the last post, I've been on kind of a math kick these days. I've been eager to share what I've learned, haven't had a way to share formulas other than images. That's ok, but it's not very flexible.
I tried setting things up manually, but didn't have a ton of luck. Fortunately, there's a module (MathJax: LaTeX for Drupal) that seems to work pretty well. Unfotunately, it's still in beta, so use it at your own risk.
Lately, I've been spending a lot of time studying calculus, statistics and physics. While I believe that the best way to memorize the formulas is to use them over and over again, I thought it would be nice to reinforce some of the concepts with flash cards. Anki seemed like a perfect fit.
Let's say you're creating a new content type in Drupal 7. Maybe you want include an embedded MP3 player using the Media module. Easy, right? Mmm...sort of. Here's a little tip that could save you some time if you're trying to play a file from another site.
